Narendra Patel, Baron Patel

Narendra Patel, Baron Patel is a Tanzanian-British obstetrician and crossbench life peer in the House of Lords. Born in Lindi, Tanganyika, he had a distinguished medical career, serving as president of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and as Chancellor of the University of Dundee. Since his introduction to the House of Lords in 1999, he has been an active contributor on health, science, and social policy, focusing on maternity services, patient safety, and reproductive technologies. He is a Knight of the Order of the Thistle and has advised global health bodies, including the World Health Organization, on maternal and newborn health.
