Nickie J. Antonio is an American politician serving as a member of the Ohio State Senate, representing the 23rd district. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2011 to 2018 and on the Lakewood City Council. Antonio is recognized as the first openly gay person to serve in the Ohio General Assembly. Throughout her career, she has been a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, abortion access, and economic initiatives, including public works job programs. She holds degrees from Cleveland State University and is a former special education teacher.
