Nils Schmid

Nils Schmid is a German politician and lawyer who has served as a member of the German Bundestag since 2017, representing the Nürtingen constituency. In addition to his parliamentary duties, he has served as a Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Defence since 2025. Previously, Schmid held significant roles in state politics, including serving as the Deputy Minister-President and Minister of Financial and Economic Affairs of Baden-Württemberg from 2011 to 2016. A member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) since 1991, he has been a prominent voice on foreign policy and economic affairs throughout his career, contributing to various coalition negotiations and international parliamentary assemblies.
