野上浩太郎

Kotaro Nogami is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Councillors, representing the Toyama Prefecture constituency. A member of the Liberal Democratic Party, he has held several high-level government positions, including Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, and State Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Before entering national politics, he served as a member of the Toyama Prefectural Assembly and worked in the private sector at Mitsui Fudosan. Nogami has been involved in various policy areas, including constitutional reform and national security, and has held leadership roles within his party, such as Chairman of the Diet Affairs Committee of the House of Councillors. In 2024, he was implicated in a political funding scandal involving the Liberal Democratic Party's Abe faction, leading to his resignation from his party leadership posts.
