A prominent figure in the Socialist Party, she has held several high-level government positions, including Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2021 to 2023, Minister of Defence from 2017 to 2020, and Minister of Social Welfare and Youth in 2017. Before entering national politics, she worked as a lecturer at the University of New York Tirana and was active in civil society, focusing on human rights and gender equality. During her tenure as foreign minister, she oversaw Albania's first-ever seat on the UN Security Council and managed the resettlement of Afghan refugees.
