Patrick McLoughlin, Baron McLoughlin, is a British politician and life peer who currently serves as a Member of the House of Lords. A former coal miner, he became one of the few Conservative parliamentarians to have worked in manual labor before entering politics. He served as the Member of Parliament for West Derbyshire and later Derbyshire Dales from 1986 to 2019. During his career, he held several high-profile government positions, including Secretary of State for Transport, Conservative Party Chairman, and Chief Whip. He was knighted in 2016 and elevated to the peerage in 2020.
