Patrick James Morrisey is an American politician and attorney serving as the 37th Governor of West Virginia since 2025. Previously, he served as the 34th Attorney General of West Virginia from 2013 to 2025, becoming the first Republican to hold that office since 1933. Throughout his career, Morrisey has been a prominent figure in conservative legal circles, frequently challenging federal environmental regulations and the Affordable Care Act. Before his election as Attorney General, he worked as a private practice attorney and a lobbyist in Washington, D.C., and served as chief health counsel for the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
