Paul Van Miert is a Belgian politician and a member of the Flemish Parliament representing the Antwerp constituency. Born in Turnhout in 1965, he holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from the Katholieke Hogeschool Kempen. Before entering politics, he had a professional career in the coffee industry, notably leading the German subsidiary of Miko NV until 2014. Van Miert began his political career in local government, serving as a municipal councilor in Oud-Turnhout starting in 2006. He was first elected to the Flemish Parliament in 2014 and has since been re-elected, previously serving as the chairman of the committee for General Policy, Finance and Budget from 2016 to 2019.
