Peter Khalil

Peter Khalil is an Australian politician serving as the Assistant Minister for Defence and as the Member of the House of Representatives for the Division of Wills. Born in Melbourne to Egyptian Coptic parents, he holds degrees from the University of Melbourne and the Australian National University. Before entering parliament in 2016, Khalil had a distinguished career in national security, including roles with the Department of Defence, the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq, and as a national security adviser to Kevin Rudd. A member of the Labor Right faction, he is a strong proponent of the Western alliance and has advocated for social cohesion and multiculturalism throughout his political career.
