Peter van der Velden

Peter van der Velden is a Dutch politician and administrator who has served as the mayor of several municipalities throughout his career, including Breda, Emmen, and Bergen op Zoom. A member of the Labour Party (PvdA), he began his political journey as a municipal councilor in Bergen op Zoom at the age of 21. Over the decades, he has held various mayoral positions and served as the vice-chairman of the PvdA from 2001 to 2005. Most recently, he concluded his tenure as the acting mayor of Dordrecht in June 2025 and currently serves as the ambassador for Accessibility and Mobility for the Drechtsteden region.
