Pnina Tamano-Shata is an Israeli politician, lawyer, and journalist who serves as a member of the Knesset. Born in Ethiopia, she immigrated to Israel as a child during Operation Moses. She made history as the first Ethiopian-born woman to enter the Knesset in 2013 and later became the first Ethiopian-born cabinet minister in Israel, serving as the Minister of Aliyah and Integration. Throughout her career, she has been a vocal advocate for social justice, immigrant rights, and gender equality, notably chairing the Committee for the Status of Women and Gender Equality.
