杉島理一郎

Riichiro Sugishima is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Iruma in Saitama Prefecture. Born in 1982, he graduated from Waseda University and began his career at the Japan Finance Corporation before joining the Matsushita Institute of Government and Management. He previously served as a member of the Saitama Prefectural Assembly for two terms. Since his election as mayor in 2020, he has focused on initiatives such as digital transformation (DX), the promotion of SDGs, and the implementation of partnership and family-ship systems for LGBTQ+ couples. He was re-elected for a second term in 2024.
