Rüdiger Lucassen

Rüdiger Lucassen is a German politician and a member of the Bundestag, representing the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party since 2017. A former commissioned officer in the Bundeswehr, he studied at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg before entering politics. Lucassen served as the chairman of the AfD state association in North Rhine-Westphalia from 2019 to 2022. Politically, he has advocated for Germany to acquire nuclear weapons and has taken a complex stance on foreign policy, including criticizing party colleagues for their engagement with Russian state media while simultaneously opposing arms deliveries to Ukraine.
