Rashida Tlaib is an American politician and lawyer serving as the U.S. Representative for Michigan's 12th congressional district since 2023, having previously represented the 13th district. A member of the Democratic Party and the informal group known as 'The Squad,' she made history as the first Palestinian American woman elected to Congress and one of the first two Muslim women to serve in the body. Before her federal career, she served in the Michigan House of Representatives and worked as a legal advocate for workers. Tlaib is known for her progressive policy stances, including support for a one-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and advocacy for social and economic justice.
