Ricky Richard Anywar

Ricky Richard Anywar is a Ugandan politician and former child soldier who currently serves as a Member of Parliament representing Agago West County. Abducted by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) at age 14, he survived two years of forced combat before escaping and becoming an orphan. Following his rehabilitation and graduation from Kyambogo University, he founded the nonprofit organization Friends of Orphans to assist in the reintegration of former child soldiers. His life story is documented in the 2017 book 'Soldier Boy' by Keely Hutton, and he was the recipient of the 2008 Harriet Tubman Award for his humanitarian efforts.
