A member of the United Conservative Party, he has represented the electoral district of Highwood in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta since his election in 2019. Previously, he served as the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation from 2023 to 2026. Throughout his tenure, Sigurdson has advocated for the protection of the southern Alberta watershed and the integrity of the Canadian Rockies, while also voicing opposition to certain provincial COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
