Throughout his career, he has been a polarizing figure, known for his environmental activism as well as his promotion of vaccine skepticism and various public health conspiracy theories. After initially running as an independent in the 2024 presidential election, he endorsed Donald Trump and was subsequently nominated and confirmed to his current cabinet position in 2025.
