Robert Jackson is an American politician currently serving as a member of the New York State Senate, representing District 31. A member of the Democratic Party, he made history as the first Muslim to serve in the New York State Senate. Before his election to the Senate in 2018, Jackson served on the New York City Council from 2002 to 2013. He is widely recognized for his leadership in the Campaign for Fiscal Equity, a landmark lawsuit that challenged the state's underfunding of New York City public schools. Throughout his career, he has focused on education advocacy, labor rights, and urban policy.
