Roxanne Persaud is an American politician serving as a member of the New York State Senate for the 19th district, representing parts of Brooklyn. Born in Guyana and of Indo-Guyanese and Afro-Guyanese heritage, she immigrated to New York as a young person. Before entering politics, she worked as a school administrator at Pace University and St. Francis College. Persaud served in the New York State Assembly in 2015 before being elected to the State Senate later that year. She has since served as the Chair of the Social Services Committee, focusing on community advocacy and legislative service.
