Þórunn Sveinbjarnardóttir

Þórunn Sveinbjarnardóttir is an Icelandic politician who has served as the Speaker of the Althing since 2025. A member of the Social Democratic Alliance, she has represented the Southwest constituency in the Icelandic parliament across multiple terms, having previously served as the Minister for the Environment and Natural Resources from 2007 to 2009. Her career includes extensive work with the Red Cross and various parliamentary committees, including roles in foreign affairs and constitutional oversight. She holds degrees in political science and international politics from the University of Iceland and Johns Hopkins University.
