Sandy Salmon is an American politician, military veteran, and farm manager currently serving as a member of the Iowa Senate representing District 29. Prior to her election to the Senate, she served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2013 to 2023. A graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, Salmon served in the United States Marine Corps from 1977 to 1980. In the legislature, she has chaired the Veterans Affairs Committee and has been a vocal advocate for conservative social policies, including efforts to challenge the legal definition of marriage.
