A member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, she is recognized as a grassroots political leader. Prior to her tenure in the Rajya Sabha, she served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Ghazipur Sadar constituency, having been elected in 2017. Her political career began with the Bahujan Samaj Party before she transitioned to the Bharatiya Janata Party under the influence of leader Manoj Sinha.
