Sango Nishida is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Sakura City in Chiba Prefecture. Born in Sakura, he graduated from Takushoku University before beginning his political career as a member of the Sakura City Council, where he served three terms. He subsequently served four terms as a member of the Chiba Prefectural Assembly. In 2019, he was elected as the Mayor of Sakura City. Throughout his career, he has been associated with the Liberal Democratic Party, though he ran as an independent in his mayoral bid. Nishida has faced public scrutiny regarding his past attendance at events organized by the Unification Church and for administrative errors involving the return of government subsidies.
