Sarah Ludford, Baroness Ludford is a British Liberal Democrat politician and a life peer in the House of Lords. Educated at the London School of Economics, she qualified as a barrister before entering politics. She served as a councillor for the London Borough of Islington from 1991 to 1999 and represented London as a Member of the European Parliament from 1999 to 2014. A longstanding opponent of capital punishment, she is active in various human rights organizations and remains a member of the Liberal Democrat groups Friends of Israel and Friends of Turkey.
