Born in Naha in 1963, he spent his early career as a local government official, joining the Naha City Office in 1985. Over several decades, he held various high-ranking municipal positions, including secretary to the mayor, director of the General Affairs Department, and Deputy Mayor of Naha. In 2022, he ran as an independent candidate in the Naha mayoral election with support from the Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito, successfully winning his first term. He is known for his extensive administrative experience within the city government.
