Masayasu Nakano is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Ichinomiya, Aichi Prefecture. A graduate of the University of Tokyo, he began his career as a bureaucrat in the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and later served in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, including a diplomatic posting in Brussels. After leaving the bureaucracy, he entered local politics and was first elected mayor in 2015. During his tenure, he has overseen Ichinomiya's transition to a core city and implemented various social policies, including a partnership and family-ship oath system for LGBT couples.
