Sergei Ignatov

Sergei Ignatov is a Bulgarian Egyptologist and politician currently serving as the Minister of Education and Science in the Gyurov caretaker government since February 2026. Previously, he served as the Minister of Education, Youth and Science from 2009 to 2013. An academic by background, he held various leadership roles at the New Bulgarian University and has served as the Rector of the European Humanities University in Vilnius, Lithuania, since 2018. He is a member of the GERB political party.
