Sharon Burey

Sharon Burey is a Canadian senator and pediatrician who has dedicated her career to health policy and advocacy. Born in Jamaica, she immigrated to Canada in 1976 and established a distinguished medical career. Before her appointment to the Senate of Canada in November 2022 on the advice of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, she served on the executive council of the Pediatricians Alliance of Ontario and the health policy committee of the Ontario Medical Association. Notably, she was the first woman of colour to serve as president of the Pediatricians Alliance of Ontario, reflecting her commitment to leadership and health equity.
