Gary Anandasangaree

Gary Anandasangaree is a Sri Lankan Canadian politician and lawyer who has served as Canada's Minister of Public Safety since 2025. A member of the Liberal Party, he was first elected to the House of Commons in 2015 representing Scarborough—Guildwood—Rouge Park. Previously, he served as the Minister of Crown–Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs and briefly as the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. Before entering federal politics, Anandasangaree practiced law, specializing in business and international human rights, and was active in various community organizations.
