Shigeki Tomida is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Kani City in Gifu Prefecture. Born in 1953, he graduated from the Nagoya University Faculty of Law in 1977 and subsequently joined the Gifu Prefectural Government. During his career as a local civil servant, he held various administrative roles, including positions in the personnel and general affairs departments. He was first elected as Mayor of Kani in 2010 with the support of the Democratic Party of Japan and the Rengo Gifu labor union. He has since been re-elected multiple times, securing his fourth term in 2022.
