Shigeki Oyama is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Sanuki City in Kagawa Prefecture. Born in 1950, he graduated from the Faculty of Law at Kyoto University in 1975 and subsequently joined the Kagawa Prefectural Government, where he held various administrative positions including Deputy Director of the Commerce, Industry and Labor Department. He was first elected as Mayor of Sanuki in 2006 and has since secured six consecutive terms in office. Throughout his tenure, he has focused on municipal administration and local crisis management, notably implementing salary reductions for city officials to fund COVID-19 countermeasures in 2020.
