堀内茂

Shigeru Horiuchi is a Japanese politician currently serving his fifth term as the Mayor of Fujiyoshida City in Yamanashi Prefecture. Born in Tokyo in 1948, he graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Nihon University in 1971. Before entering politics, he worked at Hotel Okura and later at Fujikyu Corporation. Horiuchi began his political career as a member of the Yamanashi Prefectural Assembly and served on the Yamanashi Prefectural Personnel Commission. He was first elected mayor of Fujiyoshida in 2007 and has since secured consecutive re-elections, maintaining a focus on local municipal administration.
