Sima Acan

Sima Acan is a Canadian politician who was elected as the Member of Parliament for Oakville West in the 2025 federal election, becoming the first person of Turkish descent to serve in the House of Commons. Born in Ankara, Turkey, in 1979, she immigrated to Canada in 2007. Before entering federal politics, she was a business owner in the robotics industry and served as the president of the Federation of Canadian Turkish Associations. Acan has publicly stated her support for the Canadian government's recognition of the Armenian genocide.
