Siviwe Gwarube is a South African politician currently serving as the Minister of Basic Education in the Government of National Unity since July 2024. A prominent member of the Democratic Alliance (DA), she previously served as the Chief Whip of the Official Opposition in the National Assembly from 2022 to 2024. Gwarube began her career as a spokesperson for DA leadership and held various roles, including Shadow Minister of Health and DA national spokesperson. She was elected as a deputy federal chairperson of the DA in April 2026 and holds a Master of Development Policy and Practice from the University of Cape Town.
