Sorrel Parisa Aroca Rodriguez

Sorrel Parisa Aroca Rodríguez is a Colombian lawyer and politician who served as the Governor of the Putumayo Department from 2016 to 2019. A graduate of the Universidad Libre with a specialization in Mining and Energy Law from the Universidad Externado de Colombia, she began her public career in local government before serving as a deputy in the Putumayo Departmental Assembly. As governor, she became the first woman to hold the office by popular vote, though her tenure was marked by significant legal challenges, including investigations into public contracting and the management of the 2017 Mocoa avalanche. Following her term, she has held various roles in the public sector, including positions within the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
