He was elected in the 2025 Canadian federal election, successfully unseating the incumbent candidate from the Bloc Québécois. Prior to his entry into federal politics, Lavoie held a prominent leadership role as the President and CEO of the Quebec Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is married and is a father of four children as well as a grandfather.
