Stephan Weil is a German politician and jurist who has served as a member of the Landtag of Lower Saxony since 2013. Previously, he held the office of Minister-President of Lower Saxony from 2013 to 2025 and served as the Lord Mayor of Hannover from 2006 to 2013. A member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), he also served as the party's state chairman in Lower Saxony and as President of the Bundesrat. Weil began his career as a lawyer, prosecutor, and judge before entering municipal politics.
