Stephen M. Hawley is an American politician serving as a member of the New York State Assembly, representing the 139th District. A native of Batavia, New York, he graduated from Batavia High School and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Toledo. Before his legislative career, Hawley served in the Ohio Army National Guard and the United States Army Reserve, reaching the rank of 1st Lieutenant, and worked as a business owner in the insurance and agricultural sectors. He previously served in the Genesee County Legislature before being first elected to the State Assembly in a 2006 special election. Hawley continues to reside in Batavia and remains an active representative for his constituents in Erie, Genesee, Monroe, and Orleans Counties.
