Previously, he served in the Virginia Senate and the Virginia House of Delegates, where he became the first South Asian American elected to the Virginia General Assembly. A former White House technology policy advisor during the Obama administration, Subramanyam focuses on education, healthcare, and government transparency. He is a member of the Democratic Party and resides in Ashburn, Virginia.
