Syed Kamall is a British politician and academic who has served as a life peer in the House of Lords since 2021. A member of the Conservative Party, he previously represented London as a Member of the European Parliament from 2005 to 2019, where he chaired the European Conservatives and Reformists group. His government experience includes serving as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Innovation at the Department of Health and Social Care and at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. Beyond his political career, Lord Kamall is a professor at St Mary's University, Twickenham, and serves as the academic and research director at the Institute of Economic Affairs, a classical liberal think tank.
