Sylvia Garcia

Sylvia Rodriguez Garcia is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Texas's 29th congressional district since 2019. Born in San Diego, Texas, she began her career as a social worker before transitioning into law and public service. Garcia previously served as a municipal judge, Houston city controller, Harris County commissioner, and a member of the Texas Senate. A member of the Democratic Party, she is noted for her advocacy on immigration reform, LGBTQ+ rights, and disaster relief, and she notably served as a House impeachment manager during the first impeachment trial of Donald Trump.
