Toru Matsudo is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Funabashi in Chiba Prefecture. Born in 1954, he began his career as a civil servant in the Funabashi City Office in 1978, eventually serving as the city's Deputy Mayor. He was first elected mayor in 2013 and has since secured four consecutive terms. During his tenure, he has focused on municipal administration and social welfare, notably introducing a partnership oath system for same-sex couples in 2021 to promote inclusivity within the city.
