Taisuke Ono is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture, having assumed office in September 2025. A graduate of the University of Tokyo, he previously worked as a consultant and served as a policy advisor and Vice Governor of Kumamoto Prefecture under Governor Ikuo Kabashima. He later entered national politics, serving as a member of the House of Representatives from 2021 to 2024 after being elected through the proportional representation block. Throughout his career, he has advocated for administrative reforms and regional revitalization. In 2026, he faced public scrutiny and received a disciplinary salary reduction following a traffic violation involving excessive speeding on a highway.
