Taito Yamamoto is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Chuo Ward in Tokyo. Born in 1948, he is a graduate of Keio University and previously held a long-standing career in the private sector, notably serving as the representative vice president of the traditional seaweed company Yamamoto Nori Ten. He entered politics at the age of 70, winning his first term as mayor in 2019 and securing a second term unopposed in 2023. His grandfather, Taisuke Yamamoto, also served as the first mayor of Chuo Ward.
