Taizo Mikazuki

Taizo Mikazuki is the Governor of Shiga Prefecture, currently serving his third term. A graduate of Hitotsubashi University and a former employee of JR West, he began his political career as a member of the House of Representatives, where he served as Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Since his election as governor in 2014, he has focused on regional development, environmental conservation of Lake Biwa, and disaster prevention infrastructure. Mikazuki is known for his pragmatic approach to policy, including his support for the Otogawa Dam project and his leadership within the Kansai Wide Area Union.
