Takashi Kawamura is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. He previously served as the Mayor of Nagoya for four terms from 2009 to 2024. A graduate of Hitotsubashi University, Kawamura worked in his family's paper recycling business before entering politics. Throughout his career, he has been a vocal advocate for tax reduction, the abolition of parliamentary privileges, and the elimination of corporate donations. He is known for his populist political style and his leadership of the regional party Genzei Nippon. Kawamura has also been involved in historical revisionist movements, including questioning the historical consensus regarding the Nanjing Massacre. In 2026, he founded the political group Genzei Nippon / Yūkoku Rengō, under which he secured his seventh term in the House of Representatives.
