Takashi Kubota is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Kakegawa City in Shizuoka Prefecture. Born in Kakegawa, he graduated from Kyoto University before beginning his career as a national civil servant in the Cabinet Office. He gained significant experience in local administration through his tenure as Deputy Mayor of Rikuzentakata in Iwate Prefecture following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. He later served as a professor at Ritsumeikan University and as Deputy Mayor of Kakegawa before being elected mayor in 2021. He was re-elected to the position in 2025.
