Teresa Leitão is a Brazilian politician and educator affiliated with the Workers' Party who serves as a member of the Federal Senate representing Pernambuco. Born in Recife in 1951, she earned a degree in pedagogy from the Catholic University of Pernambuco and built a career as a teacher and union leader, heading the Pernambuco Education Workers' Union. She served multiple terms in the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco before winning election to the Senate in 2022 as the first woman to represent the state in that body, later taking on the role of government leader in the Senate.
