Thomas Burger is a German politician who has served as the Lord Mayor of Regensburg since May 1, 2026. A member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), he previously served on the Regensburg City Council starting in 2002 and led the SPD faction in the council from 2020. Before his political career, he worked as a department head in the electromobility sector at the automotive supplier Continental. He holds a doctorate in physics from the University of Regensburg and is active in local community organizations, including the Workers' Welfare Association (AWO).
