Thomas Byrne

Thomas Byrne is an Irish politician and solicitor who has served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Meath East constituency since 2016, having previously held the seat from 2007 to 2011. A member of the Fianna Fáil party, he has held various ministerial roles, including Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Department of Defence as of 2025. Throughout his career, Byrne has focused on issues such as mortgage regulation, education reform, and European affairs. He played a key role in the bipartisan effort to remove religious-based discrimination in school admissions and has been a prominent voice in Irish national politics for nearly two decades.
